The Carter residence was a modest three bedroom brick home. Typical for its era, the rooms were small. Furthermore the home was too small for this growing family and the house was beginning to feel cramped. Due to setback restrictions, Courtstreet Architects designed an addition that nearly doubled the original size of the house by pushing out the back of the house. On the ground floor an open family room & kitchen area looks out onto the back yard, while a new mudroom provides direct access to the yard. At the second floor the existing bedrooms were left unchanged and the addition housed the newly created master suite, as well as a more functional bathroom for the children.
